I love working with the health-conscious like-minded women. Even though we all have different backgrounds, providing healthier options to our communities is what brings us all together to make a really great team.
— Claudia, Todo Verde Team Member

Have you all had a chance to meet Claudia Arandia, our creative and talented Todo Verde team member?

Claudia, who lives in Pasadena with her husband and two dogs tells us about her work as an L.A. artist as she finds the balance between pursuing an invoking career and sustaining a healthy diet and exercise routine.

You initially attended FIDM and studied textile design as a career choice and are now a full-time artist and TV team member, how did you make that transition?

After I graduated high school, I attended trade school, but it wasn’t for me at the time. I set out to explore different career options. Later, I saw that Todo Verde was looking for new team members, so I reached out to Jocelyn. It’s funny how things work out, because after our meeting, I left feeling really great about the interview, even after getting to my car and realizing that I had a parking ticket waiting for me, I was still elated about the possibility of working with a company like Todo Verde. Sometimes we need reminders that seeking a degree is not always the right path for everyone, and there are many possibilities to create a different path.

Working with TV has given me the time to focus on my art. I was lucky to recently be a part of one of Sand One’s all female art shows and I was inspired by all of the women I met there. I would love to continue to be in these types shows, and also be a part of art shows with chicanos and other POC. I want to keep creating art, be more involved in different shows, and eventually have my own art show.

Eating healthy and exercising regularly go hand in hand once you’ve established a routine, how do you incorporate both?

I was always pretty active as a kid,  and as I got older I preferred walking and taking the metro to work and school. I always try to find a way to get in exercise during my daily routines, like taking my dogs on daily walks to nearby parks.

A few years ago, I got a road bike and would use it as my main method of transportation, like riding to school, work and everywhere else I needed to go. After a bike ride you get so hungry and you don't want to eat junk food, you want to eat something healthy and filling that won't make you feel heavy. I find myself craving and eating more greens and veggies. Although I don't usually crave meat, I’m still not fully vegetarian or vegan yet, but bike riding has definitely pushed me to make healthier choices.

Which Todo Verde recipe could you not live without?

I love so many of our drink recipes! Every time I try a new one, it becomes my favorite. But if I had to choose, the Naranjada, is my all time favorite. It's so simple, yet so good and refreshing made with fresh squeezed orange juice and a floral orange blossom hint.

After working with Jocelyn I can see and taste that her recipes are really carefully thought out. Even my husband agrees! He loves all of TV’s recipes because they remind him of when he was younger and his mom would make similar drinks.

What is your favorite part about working with Todo Verde?

I love working with the health-conscious like-minded women. Even though we all have different backgrounds, providing healthier options to our communities is what brings us all together to make a really great team.
